welcome to every dreamer
Welcome to BackWood Petz, the latest Win-a-Site from PixiMyst. There's lots to do here, so feel free to take a look around. The navigation is [will be] located on the pink stripe above. The winner of this site will be able to customize this menu, as well as any of the text seen here. As always, enjoy!
About the Layout: Some people like this, some people don't. But, in case you are wondering about it... Yes, this is the official version two of Backwood Petz. The first had a "photograph" theme with a mossy green background. It was officially remodeled on 23 Octubre 2007. Things that are new -- brand new CSS oriented model for faster loading time on slower computers, as well as compatability in several browsers types. Please feel free to let me know if you experience any problems! Another new feature is the ever-lovely Sheiy (the CKBC who comes with the whole layout) -- whom I have digitally hand-drawn and "starred" at the top of the layout. Tada! Do enjoy her now :) What a love she is <333

+ This is the box where all your updates will go. It comes with its own scrollbars, so there's no need to wrorry about crowding large updates into a small space ;) + Along with the layout, you will also get a fully-functional tagboard, custom bred CKBC (shown to the left), a couple of link banners, and more. For more information, simply scroll down. + Before entering the contest, be sure that you have a basic understanding of HTML. All the pages you see before you were generated using such script, and the host for this site doesn't (at least to my knowledge) offer a WYSIWYG editor. But there is a good side to all of that because... + As you can see, the site is ad-free! And that, folks, is one of the reasons why I don't host on Geocities any longer. :D | |

It will be changed soon ;)
Care to Chit-Chat?
How it all works
+ First of all, this is a Win-a-Site offered by PixiMyst. That means that it is part of an active contest where you prepare an entry, send it in, and compete with nine - eleven other people (depending on the max. entry amount given) in order to win the whole website.
+ This time around, we have a story contest - so get those pencils ready! Once enough entries are sent in, I will judge them, and three finalists will be chosen.
+ Obviously, first place is the grand winner, and his/her name will be announced and an e-mail will be sent out. If the winner doesn't respond within a one-week time period, then the runner up will be announced, and the prize shall be passed down the line.
+ After the winner in question sends a reply, then I will send another email with instructions, etc. It should be pretty self-explanitory from there.

Frequently Asked Questions
|
Q. Do I have to choose anything from the "Other Things You May Consider" menu? A. Not at all! Like the title says, the items in there are things "you may consider" to enhance the site a little. A while back, I had two of the options included in the "What You Get" section, but I know that not everyone wants additional graphics; and so making them optional seemed logical. Q. I don't see many pre-made pages / the site seems incomplete. What's the point? A. The point is, the winner gets to fill in the holes -- and that's the beauty of it! In the developmental stages of Backwood, I had coded several other pages, such as basic templates for the showz page and adoptions (etc.). However, I came to find that the violated the whole purpose for several reasons. First, because not every webmaster hosts EVERYTHING I put on a potential list, and second, because it really takes the fun out of the creative part in designing pages "by your own rules." Everyone has a different style. Also, what good does it do to post a page that reads "Coming soon" or "This is where your showz go" and nothing else? Waste of space... waste of time, and bandwidth. Q. So, does that mean I would have to fill in EVERY SINGLE page on the current list if I win? A. Certainly not! The links presented at the top of the page are only samples, created (more or less) to give you an idea of things you COULD potentially put there. What you actually make and how you do it is completely up to you! Have a little fun, we like originality ;) Q. How is it said: "Backwood" or "Backwood Petz" ? A. Technically, both are correct - it just depends on the context you use it in. The "petz" part of the title came around as sort of a pet saying, and I used it alot when working on any outside resources (such as the taggy signup process, among other things). Don't get too caught up in it, because in the long run, the future webmaster actually gets the last say on the matter. Q. I'm confused about when its nessessary to give you credit... A. All I ask for is for you to give credit where credit is due. The current layout, for example, was made by me, and so it should be made clear with a little notice at the bottom of the page (as you see now). However, when you change it, I haven't a problem with deleting that notice as well. If you have questions regarding what needs copyright info, feel free to ask me. |
